The ORMA 60, Region Guadeloupe, skippered by John Burnie walked away with line honors in the RORC’s inaugural Caribbean 600 event, beating Mike Slade’s ICAP Leopard by almost 4 hours. "That was an incredible ride." said Burnie, whose crew led the fleet from the first mark of the course and achieved speeds of over 26 knots. ”We wanted to set a standard for others to beat, we pushed the boat really hard and we never backed off.”
Ross Monson, ICAP Leopard’s navigator commented "What an awesome race! Very exciting with lots of corners, marks, reefs, rocks and island wind shadows to navigate, often in the middle of the night. This race should definitely have a future." Great Leopard pic from Tim Wright and more here.
