We dig hearing what various boats and programs are up to and here’s one for ya.
Immigrant is once again heading south albeit a little later this year for her crews annual quest for improvement and a podium place in the F30 (previously Mumm30) National Championships.
This year the National Championships are a little closer to home on the 20th – 22nd March, with the RQYS in Manly QLD being the host club. There is expected to be 14 F30s including the current world champion, Guy Stenning. F30s will be traveling from as far as Hobart to compete. All the yachts travel on purpose built road trailers.
Racing in a One Design fleet is close and competitive as all the boats are the same, so it comes down to rig tune, sails and crew. The series is up to 3 windward leeward races with each leg of one nautical mile. With up to 10 races scheduled for the series, in will be a full on regatta.
The weekend prior to this RQYS is holding the Queensland F30 Championships which will be a great warm up to the Nationals.
