Luna Rossa Out
A large spectator fleet followed every move, with much excitement following Tuesday mornings drama filled races. Racing started at 2pm, in about 10knts of building seabreeze. First start BMWO and Luna Rossa, both boats clean away and taking different sides of the course, with very little to separate them. At the top mark, BMWO led by 12M, with boats crossing with downwind with no engagement. However, BMWO clocked a penalty and losing its lead on the downwind leg, however at led at the bottom mark and started up the windward leg providing a loose cover to Luna Rossa. BMWO step up gear and increased its lead looking for enough space to take a penalty turn and still be in front. On the last leg the lead was out to 112M. BMWO turned on the mark and won, getting its bow over before Luna Rossa crossed nine seconds later. BWMO clearly demonstrated its ability to change gear, speed up when needed and superb boat handling skills.
