One In One Out

Thomas Coville is nearing the end of his round the world voyage. Having failed to beat Francis Joyon’s solo record, he’s now hoping to make it in less than 60 days. Something only Orange II and Cheyenne (both crewed) and Joyon solo have managed to achieve. He should manage that, as he only has to average around 16 knots for the rest of the run to Brest, but the boat is tired, he’s tired and there’s some pretty nasty weather charging across his path.

The Omani trimaran Musandam is not far into its Round the World voyage and struggling with the Doldrums, Indian Ocean style, right now. It’s been business as usual, with wind when it isn’t expected and no wind when it should be there and the usual squalls, with torrential rain. Last night they had a longer than usual squall and ended up heading north for a while! Down below it’s still very hot and super humid, but minds are already turning to getting warmer gear ready for the cold that will come soon. Pic from Oman sail and more here.
