Big Pimpin’
Six10
From Bruce Niederer
Tech Advisor/Chemist/Anarchist
Here at Gougeon Brothers, Inc. we have been busy the last couple of years. In 2007 we introduced the award winning G/Flex 650 and 655 flexible epoxy adhesive, voted the Innovative product of the year at IBEX ’07.
For 2008 we are introducing a new epoxy adhesive. WEST SYSTEM® Six10TM is a thickened epoxy adhesive that comes in a convenient, self-metering cartridge. Six10 features the innovative shear thinning chemistry developed for our line of PROSET® adhesives, but is packaged in a single, co-axial tube so you can use any standard caulking gun. It is intended for permanent, waterproof, structural gap filling and gluing. Six10 bonds to wood, fiberglass, metals, and masonry. It comes with a 600 Static Mixer so it can be dispensed fully mixed just like a typical caulk or silicone sealant – but with the strength all my fellow anarchists have come to expect from WEST SYSTEM epoxy products. Extra Static Mixers are also available separately. The working time is 42 minutes at 72°F. It cures to a solid (clamps off) in 5 – 6 hours and takes high loads in 24 hours.
Six10 can also be dispensed without the Static Mixer in small amounts easily and always at the correct 2:1 ratio which makes it ideal to carry onboard for repairs offshore. It will wet out fiberglass as well as form a fillet on a vertical surface or even overhead. For more information go to http://www.gougeonbrothers.com/Six10/
