The Sailing Anarchy
Flying Dutchman Nationals
got back on track after Saturday
was a complete wash out, with pouring down rain, and heavy winds, all
races were canceled. The sailors dispersed into Santa Cruz after lunch,
and spent boat loads of money in local establishments late into Saturday
night.

Sunday dawned promising a fine day, and paid off nicely. A first race
in the first light airs of the day began at noon, light air with crews
sitting to leeward is as we all know some of the most challenging sailing,
particularly in warm sunshine. Lin Robson broke from the pack and went
right at the start, and never looked back. He led all the way around,
though Paul Scoffin and Tim Sayles were close on his heels throughout.
The succeeding races brought increasing winds and by the start of the
third and last race, the crews were full out trapping.
