The Real Story?

The official line and a quite believable reason given for
dropping out from the Virgin Money/Speedboat Transatlantic record attempt
was mainsail failure. However, this e-mail from a crew member would
seem to indicate something quite different, would it not?

We left NYC at 2AM on Tuesday night. We knew it would be tough going
at first as we had to sail through a force 7 or 8 gale from the North,
and then catch another system from the South to make it across the Atlantic
in record time.
