BS

Just when you think it can’t get worse at the 505 Worlds in Palermo Sicily, it does. Another beautfiul sunny day with hardly any
breeze. First race shouldn’t have been sailed and in the end more than
half the fleet was scored DNF for not finishing within the time limit.
Can you say BS… Howie Hamlin and Andy Zinn won the race with 6 minutes
on the second finisher. We were headed to the finish line when the RC
pulled the finish line and that was all she wrote. The breeze shifted
and filled to 8 to 10 for the second race and it was great to finally
get the crew out on the wire upwind. We had a good start and got to the
favored left side but didn’t quite have the speed and point to hang with
the top group as the breeze faded. In the end Tom Bjoland of Denmark won
the race. Howie and Andy finished 6th to be the top American team. The
good news is everyone has plenty of energy to support the bar and the
pretty girls are still hanging around the yacht club – something you don’t
normally see.
