The iShares Cup is an event satisfies just about everyone; the
speed fiends, the bring on the spills brigade and Joe Public who wants
to see sail racing close up. From Thursday on, the entertainment circus
will be performing on a canal in the middle of Amsterdam, so the spectators
will be right on the scene and close quarter racing is a cert. A few Olympic
medallists, including Ian Percy and Ben Ainslie, will be sailing in the
morning publicity sessions and BT will have Beijing Tornado silver medal
winner, Darren Bundock, on the helm for the races. The top Australian
cat sailor has valuable experience sailing in the ultra -tight waterways
of the Amsterdam IJ-Haven canal, having also competed in last year’s final. This pic by Vincent Curutchet gives an idea of how close quarters it will
be. Loadsa thrills and spills pix are here.
