Pigs Fly!

Given
our in your face approach to sailing, we were not surprised when one day
we asked someone about having Melges advertise with us, the response was
"When pigs fly!" Well, consider them flown. We’re happy to announce
Melges on board with us here at SA, primarily to promote their brand new
Melges 20. Of course they have a long, tradition promoting the sport of
sailing, with a brand of boats that has built a remrkable fan base.

It all started back in 1945 when Harry Melges Sr. started building scows
out of the small farm town of Zenda, Wisconsin. Buddy Melges (Harry Melges
Jr.) then progressed the company and went on to win Olympic Medals and
and America’s Cup in 1992. The third generation Melges is now shaping
the company. Harry Melges III has developed the Melges 32, Melges 24,
Melges 20 and Melges 17 – some of the premier sportboats in the
sailing industry – of that there is no debate. The Melges Team will still
admit that the scow business is their bread and butter and it is very
close to their hearts. The new line of sportboats however has sparked
a new excitement at Melges. The Melges Goal: Promote the sport of sailing,
