Cup Time in Kentucky

The third annual Commonwealth
Cup
is looming on the horizon. Bring your trailerables to Kentucky
Lake and run with the best. If you prefer to come by water, pick your
poison….Cumberland River, Tennessee River, Mississippi River, or
Ohio River. All are within a short distance from Kentucky Lake and the
Tennessee River actually runs through it. We will have a whale of a pre-race
party planned for Friday, September 26th, with a distance race on Saturday
and a great post race party on Saturday night. You’ll experience
entertainment, a nationally known speaker, fantastic food and fun, not
to mention the racing!

Kentucky Lake is known for its distance races. It averages 2 miles
wide and is 184 miles long. Most people don’t know that Kentucky
Lake is one of the nation’s best inland lakes for sailing. There
will be classes for JAM A, JAM B, Light Fleet, and One Design fleet
for any class with 5 or more racers. Hey, you J/Boaters and other one
design classes, bring your boats, and let’s see who can take home
the trophies. A traveling trophy goes to the club or marina who has
the most points for the best scores. Take the Cup from the defending
champion, Kentucky Dam Marina.

For those of you who don’t race, there is also a group called
the Cruiser Fleet. They will mosey down the lake and try to win prizes
such as wine baskets, etc. There’s something for everyone! Thanks
to our title sponsor, First Kentucky Bank and to our Marina Sponsors,
Green Turtle Bay, Kentucky Dam Marina, Lighthouse Landing, and Kenlake
Marina. We have many others that put their hard earned dollars and blood,
sweat and tears into making this a world class event! Come and experience
it! Go to www.cycgtb.com and click on the Commonwealth Cup Update section.
