I Coulda Been a CONTENDER
Today was the first day of the 2008 Velocitek International Contender World Champs, and after two days of sailing Canadian Nationals in Kingston, Ontario’s famous Southwesterlies, the fleet was ready. Consisting of members from 8 nations, Worlds includes sailors from 20 to their early 70s. Can you imagine jumping under a Contender’s boom at 70+ years of age?
We are sailing out on the Foxtrot course and several competitors can’t resist taking shortcuts through the rocks by Snake Island – nasty damage to rudders and centreboards continues. There will be more to come, I’m sure.
