Olympic Sailing For Idiots
We ordinarily don’t read anything on US AILING’s Rubik’s Cube of a website, but today we saw this inane story that provides a stellar example of how clueless this bunch is. A brown-noser called Derby Anderson writes, “[NBC Web Editor, Brooke] Eaton said working with someone like Jobson has been thrilling because his depth of knowledge is so impressive and useful. Asked about the limitations of blogging and how that could affect coverage, Eaton replied, ‘Imagine Gary commentating on TV. That’s how it is on the NBC blog: It’s constant.’ Even Eaton, whose job is online sports coverage, says ‘I can’t really compare it to anything because it’s unprecedented.’”
Now we occasionally get a fact wrong here and there, but it doesn’t take much research to figure out that Jobson’s “unprecedented” coverage is anything but. Even if idiot Anderson is purposely ignoring the awesome live coverage from numerous events and World Championships that we’ve shown you in On-The-Water Anarchy, there have still been dozens of regattas over the past decade with live blogging, all of them better than what Gary has been able to come up with from his house in whatever waspy Northeast neighborhood he lives in.
It’s becoming clear that the reason US Sailing keeps making dumb decisions isn’t due to deviousness, conspiracy, or even nepotism – it’s just plain old stupidity.
