August 9th marked the inaugural running of Hood River Yacht Club’s
“Double Damned” race from Cascade Locks to The Dalles in
the Columbia River Gorge. The roughly 42 mile course took sailors from
rainforest to desert through some of the most spectacular scenery around.
The start near Bonneville Dam and finish at The Dalles Dam gave the
race its name, but thanks to dissenting opinions on the wisdom of the
event in the SA Forums, we have a new slogan for next year: “Double
Damned; a different kind of insanity.”
