San Diego, CA — "We’re getting the entire Challenged America
fleet of sail and chase boats upgraded and ready for full operations
again. But finding a marina willing and able to accommodate is still
the challenge," according to Urban Miyares, co-founder and blinded
sailor of the charitable Challenged America program.
Diego’s Challenged America program has been forced to scatter some of
its sailboats around San Diego bay over the past couple of years. And
many other program boats have been stored on trailers, waiting for available
and accessible dock space to accommodate the entire program. But the
adaptive learn-to-sail program for kids and adults with disabilities,
now in its 30th year of operations, is having difficulty finding a home
— a single dockage location for all the boats in its program.
