Japanese Sword

Nelson Marek GP33
In stark contrast to Jeanneau’s pasty pastry above, here’s something a bit sharper from the pen of Nelson/Marek. It’s the first of the (until-now) nonexistent GP33 class, built as a replacement for Hisami Ebeni’s ten year old IMS-special “Century First,” and optimized for windward/leewards and short distance races in and around Japan’s Sagami Bay.

There are far too many good, fast one-design boats in this size range for the GP33 concept to get any traction, but this one is still a hot little boat that’s right in between the FT-10 and the Melges 32 in performance, though probably closer to the Melges in price.
