Say what you will about DC, (and lord knows we have), he has
a fine appreciation and a pretty keen eye for some of the fastest and
best looking sailing classics. here’s the latest.
a 51′ Sparkman & Stephens sloop built in 1968 by Driscoll’s,,,won
the first place trophies for best maintained yacht, 1st to finish and
1st overall in the McNish Regatta with the fastest elapsed time. SDYC
co-skippers Steve Games and Dennis Conner could not have been happier!
"It was a great win for "Brushfire and her crew" , "It’s
a lovely boat," said Dennis.
Conner said he was pleased that Captain Patrick Langley’s hard work
in preparing the boat was recognized and rewarded. San Diego’s wooden
boat fleet was very well represented with C.F. Kohlers Sally and Doug
Jones "Pacficia" sailing fast in the front part of the fleet.
A large "split rig" fleet from San Diego including "Miramar",
"Alsamar" , "Dauntless", "Mischief","Witchcraft"
made for a very impressive showing in the 31 boat fleet. Pacific Corinthian
Yacht Club did a fine job with the help of Dick McNish and a good time
was had by all.
