The breeze finally arrived for the last day of competition at the 2008
Formula Windsurfing European Championships in Leba, Poland. 2 back to
back races in the gold fleet in a 20k+ breeze and building swell determined
the championship as Steve Allen – AUS 0 broke the tie breaker with Ross
Williams – GBR 83 for the overall title. The very euro-centric Formula
Windsurfing class saw big numbers this year continental championship with
140 competitors from 26 countries. The regatta is part of a Formula Windsurfing
Grand Prix series with 30,000 euro prize money at each event. Next month’s
World Championship in Portimao, Portugal is the 3rd stop of the series
before heading to Brazil for 3 events later this year. Regatta
