In
a spectacular weekend of racing never seeing wind below 10 knots Stripes,
the GL70 out of Ann Arbor, MI, came out on top in Division
1
at the 2008 ROLEX US-IRC
National Championship
. After a tight first day of racing that saw
Pied Piper in first with 6 points followed closely by Stripes with 7,
Piper did not start for the rest of the weekend and Stripes went on
to win handedly by 8 points over Thirsty Tiger, another GL70 out of
Chicago. In Division 2 Rampage, the Farr 47, took the crown with Natalie
J and Vincitore, the
new kiwi boat hot on their heels. Barring a blown main halyard lock
and broken jib car track on day 1, Vincitore probably would have won.
IRC 3 was won by Chewbacca and 4 by Painkiller 4. Congratulations to
all the crews on a great weekend of racing! – Brad Terpstra
