Tomorrow Jack and Chris together with Stephen and Joel Aulich, board the
big silver bird and fly off to the International Cadet Class World Championships
in Medemblik, The Netherlands. The last six months has seen intensive
coaching, training and practice, usually four times a week, for Jack and
his skipper Joel to the point that they are now ready to race at the highest
level in their class. They have persevered throughout the cold Melbourne
winter, often training on days when many of the keelboats wouldn’t
venture out on to Port Phillip. See them in action here.
A three day visit to chilly Hobart over the Queens Birthday weekend saw
them further sharpen their skills along with all their Aussie Team mates
under the guidance of former Cadet World Champion Paul Burnell and another
recent 4 day coaching program saw Paul visit us here at Sandringham. During
that weekend the official Australian Team uniforms were delivered and
our team will look fantastic at the opening ceremony on August 1.
