Suggestion?

I’m no longer a spring duck (64)and find myself contemplating the
purchase of what may be my last sailboat. I’ve sailed for forty plus
years, and had numerous sailboats, ranging in size from dinghy’s. to
a Baltic 39. I realize that there may not be an objective answer to
this question, but I must pose it anyway.

Is there a sailboat in todays market place whose construction is equivalent
to that of a Baltic or Swan yet sails like a J boat? I’m not equating
the plush interior of the Baltic/Swan to it’s quality, but from having
worked on the Baltic and having worked on a J 35 I once owned. It’s
more than obvious that the J Boat is one of those boats which, in my
opinion is, Is nearly disposable after a few years of use. I won’t go
into the details, but they do have more than their share of deficiencies,
in terms of their construction. The trade off is their great sailing
qualities. The J boat was obviously much more spirited and fun to sail
but it’s construction left me so cold, I would never purchase another
J boat.
