Sailor Chick of the Week
Chicago’s
Jennifer Wilson has only been sailing seriously for 4 or 5 years, but
in that time she’s come an incredibly long way. She’s been fortunate
to have some of the very best training as part of the full-on Convexity
racing campaign, which includes match and fleet training and regattas
on their J/105, Farr 40, and Melges 24.
It’s a testament to her skill that Bill Hardesty considers her a very
valuable part of his team – she took third with Bill at the 2007 Melges
24 Nationals (she’s been helming her own boat lately) and last month,
she was the fourth member of Hardesty’s Etchells World Champion crew.
Jennifer was also part of the Stars & Stripes Mackinac effort that
you’ve watched unfold on these pages with unfortunate results. "Jen
is an awesome person to sail with, especially when it’s time to crunch
numbers," said Bill. "Her analytical ability and perceptiveness
help out everyone on the boat."
We’ll try to catch up with Jennifer this weekend, where she’ll be sailing
the Farr 40 Convexity in the Chicago-Mackinac Race. Photo thanks to Tim Wilkes/
