Our boys from Team Mirsky are out to an early lead at the Toyota
Sopot Match Race.
can be difficult to come from an event with so much hype surrounding
it, such as Match Cup Sweden, but the Toyota Sopot Match Race is proving
itself to be another event to be modelled on. We finished the first
day with 4 wins and 1 loss, going down only to Keith Swinton in yet
another Perth derby. Despite crossing the finishing line in front, we
were given a penalty for making contact with the pin. That aside, we
have had some close matches and are in no way taking this event lightly.
Luckily for us, the format is forgiving in the early stages, so we are
taking a slower approach to getting used to the interesting
boats. We feel that we are getting the steady progression needed
to take us to the finals, so are hoping to continue our improvement
in tomorrow’s races.
Tonight we will enjoy the Opening Ceremony, the 5 star accommodation
and Polish women, but tomorrow we will keep working on getting our mojo
going so that we can hopefully get another good result to assist our
climb up the rankings. Pictures from Jürg
