Some classes never
die, and in SoCal the Cal 20 is
one of them. Attracting tons of good local talent and some really good
racing, their annual Nationals take place july 11-13. SA is pleased
to be a co-sponsor of the event, and here is a little PR for the event:
from Southern California to Canada and as far west as Hawaii will form
a world-class lineup in a venerable boat when they compete in the 2008
Cal 20 Class Championship at Alamitos Bay Yacht Club July 11-13.
For most of them, first there was the Naples Sabot and then, when they
outgrew that, the Cal 20—and more. The entry list, expected to reach
40 boats, includes locals John Shadden, an Olympic medalist at Pusan
in 1988; Keith Ives, who was in the middle of the Pacific racing to
Tahiti as this was written, and Steve Flam, a tactician in demand on
the world sailing circuit.
