The
love affair with pimped out paint jobs continues, with Anarchist Michael
Hennessy’s new Class40. Any trouble guessing this little beauty’s name
based on the color’s she wears? Check out Michael’s update on the problem
that kept him out of the Newport Bermuda race and the work currently underway.
So after a mad scramble to fit out Dragon and get her ready for the Newport
Bermuda race, two days prior to the race we were forced to pull the plug.
We had been getting a couple of gallons of water into the boat each day,
seeping through the sail drive seal and we pulled her at Newport Shipyard
a three days prior to the race to tighten the seal. That fix did not work,
and we realized after we had relaunched her that the only way to make
sure that we knew the cause and make a permanent fix was to pull the sail
drive out all together and inspect the wet well. Boat lift time being
at a premium in Newport prior the race, there just was not enough time
to do the work and I reluctantly withdrew my entry. As a poster on the
forum put it, better to live to fight another day than fight to live another
day. The builder, Martin Boulter of Composite Creations, is coming over
from the UK tomorrow to make the repair.
