It looks like the Newport-Bermuda Race is turning into another light-air, uphill slog, with Speedboat and Puma’s “Il Mostro” unable to do anything to open up the kind of massive leads that these boats are capable of with any real offwind work. Bummer for the diesel boats, but good news for a slew of well-prepped smaller racers that were wishing for these conditions.
Race Organizers dropped the ball in a big way on Friday, somehow ignoring the thousands of race fans sitting at their desks, desperate for information about the start of this marquis event – the biggest on the East Coast.
