Ed’s club, SDYC, announced their annual awards at Opening Day in April,
and one of the awards is Yacht of the Year – a fairly cool thing to get.
With the near historic (SA and all) creation of the Flying Tiger, and
considering the pretty good year we had on Anarchy (1st New Year’s Day,
1st in class and 1st Overall at the San Diego NOOD, 1st Hot Rum Series,
1st Flying Tiger San Diego Hi-Point, 2nd Yachting Cup, 2nd San Diego to
Ensenada, etc.) we thought we’d have a pretty good shot at the award.
So who did they give it to? The race committee boat!
They gave the Yacht of the Year award to the race committee boat?? Not
that the R/C boat doesn’t do nice work, but it seems that SDYC members
who race to some level of success should be the ones getting the award.
A quick look shows that in 49 years of giving the award, they have given
it to the R/C boat exactly once before. Wonder who they were screwing
me paranoid, and maybe I’m missing something, but I have little doubt
that Anarchy was purposely dissed by some of those members of the club
with influence who don’t like me. They know who they are – and so do I.
So instead of giving us (or some other deserving boat) Yacht of the Year,
they gave it to the RC boat. Nice work.
