The Young

The wee Jiminy Spithill, calling tactics for Slovenian Igor Lah, didn’t just win the RC44 Austria Cup, they dominated it. A posh Saturday night gala may have been too much for the sailors, as nearly everyone was over early in race 1 – but after that, Spithill showed the uncanny ability to be in the right place at the right time.

Where were bosses Russell and Larry? Coutts stated out calling lanes for Ellison, but switched to Patrich de Barros’ Banco Espirito Santo, which took the DHL trophy for the coastal race. We’re not sure why Russell switched boats, but de Barros might have given a clue – some hard core training. “I have enjoyed the scenery, but Russell has given me a hard time. He doesn’t leave me half a second to look around. If I turn my head to look, I immediately get told off.” Maybe Kostecki let Ellison enjoy the Austrian scenery too much – BMW/Oracle grabbed a lowly 6th place at the event. Loads more pix here.
