The Long Road
San Diego golden boy Bill Hardesty landed in Sardinia around midnight and shared a bottle of wine with the Cleans before getting some sleep in advance of some light practicing tomorrow at Melges Worlds. Bill flew in from Chicago via Rome directly after a saga of a drive delivering his Etchells to Lake Michigan ahead of their Worlds next month. Driving with his dad, they towed the boat through snowstorms in both the Sierra and Rockies, then into the teeth of tornados through the plains that, they learned later, killed 8 people. Isn’t it just about summer?
Worlds is turning out to be a real media blitz, with reports and blogs likely to be overflowing with stories from the course as well as our own On-The-Water coverage bringing you the entire event in all its glory. Let us know if you have any good ideas for us, and we’ll do our best to show you what you want to see. Thanks again to Dave Ullman for supporting this project, and to Joe Fly for helping us with the gadgets.
