Gear Up

We
met Bill Lynn from Atlantis Weather Gear at the Pacific Strictly Sail
Show and he is one of those guys that you just like right away. They are
attempting to create some of the best gear out there, and we can tell
you first hand that the stuff is superb. We have the Numbers sof tshell
and the Microburst jacket and the material, attention detail and fit are
nearly perfect. Here’s a little bit on what Atlantis is up to.

Boats
are starting to go in the water here at the boatyard in Marblehead, which
means it must be time for the launch of the ’08 Atlantis line.

First,
thanks to SA readers for supporting the brand and making Year 1 of the
rebirth of Atlantis so successful and so much fun. Despite a relatively
limited product line, the response to our re-launch last spring was warm
and enthusiastic, and we really appreciate all the positive feedback we
received.

So
on to Year 2. By listening to our customers and dealers, our goal was
to improve on what we did well and start to fill in gaps in the line.
New for ’08 is the Numbers soft shell which we developed in partnership
with the team from the IRC raceboat of the same name. The Numbers soft
shell is a really unique piece – a bit lighter than our Grand Prix soft
shell, and while it does repel wind and water, it is really more of a
mid-layer piece. It’s made from a smooth soft shell fabric with a microfleece
backing and frequency-welded seams, and it is a truly awesome piece of
gear! It’s available in men’s and women’s versions and comes in terrific
new colors.

Also,
we’ve taken our best-selling Microburst and Grand Prix lines and tried
to achieve perfection. With key fabric and feature upgrades combined with
a couple of color changes, we think we’re zeroing in on what may be two
of the best pieces of coastal sailing gear around – great-looking stuff
that separately and together provide the right protection for almost every
condition. We’ve also added a vest and waist pants to the Microburst line
which nearly completes this lightweight waterproof/breathable collection.
If weight and space are important, it’s the lightest truly waterproof,
windproof and breathable gear you’re going to find.

Our
R&D engine, driven by our experience and relationships with the teams
on world-class raceboats, continues to crank out innovative gear concepts
incorporating new styles and features. The word is starting to spread,
and Atlantis gear is turning up on more high-profile programs.

Visit
our website at www.AtlantisWeatherGear.com to see the new gear and to find a nearby dealer. And whether it’s feedback
on our products, cool pictures and videos, reactions to our blog posts
or ideas about new dealers we should approach, we’d love to hear from
you.
We
appreciate your business, and we look forward to an even better 2008.
