Gov’t
Governor Vetoes Bill
on Drunken Driving, Boating
PHOENIX
— Gov. Janet Napolitano is using her veto stamp on a sweeping
bill related to drunken driving and boating. The bill would have imposed
tougher mandates and penalties against drunk boaters and drivers, but
also reduced how long some first-time DUI offenders must use ignition
interlocks. The ignition interlock requirement has been in effect
for less than a year and Napolitano says it’s too soon to change
it because the effects aren’t yet known.
Fairly
amazing that she would use the ignition interlock excuse to not put the
screws to drunken a-holes who insist on getting behind the wheel of boats
and cars and crash into things. We wonder if the Alcohol Industry lobby
had any influence…
