Matched Up

Torvar
Mirsky and the boys are going to be regular contributors here at SA, and
we thought we’d give you a look at them, before they start to kick some
match race ass!

Torvar
Mirsky and his Mirsky Racing Team (MRT) are currently in Valencia training
with current World Match Racing Tour champion Ian Williams on the Victory
Challenge SM40’s getting tuned up for the upcoming World Match Racing
Tour events. The team have their sights set high for a podium finish in
the upcoming Brasil Sailing Cup in Vitoria in order to kick start the
2008 World Match Racing Tour season and secure their spot amongst the
World’s best professional sailors.

Having
competed once before in Brazil in the 2007 edition of the Brasil Sailing
Cup, MRT is excited about returning to the windy conditions of Vitoria,
with its vibrant atmosphere (babes) and sunny beaches (babes) acting as
the perfect backdrop (babes) for the first World Tour event of the season.
This time around, the team feels they will be able to improve on last
year’s 7th place, having familiarised themselves with the boats during
their intensive training with the current Tour champion. Not sure if there
will be any babes there.

The
2008 season is already going well for MRT, having won the Warren Jones
Grade in February which was held in their home town of Perth, Australia.
This result, along with a 2nd at the RYA Winter Series Final, a 5th at
the Marseilles International Match Race and a 3rd at the V Open de Espana
has seen Torvar shoot up the ISAF rankings to 7th , a remarkable achievement
considering he is only 21 years old. Young buck!

With a solid build up and good form leading into the first stage of the
World Match Racing Tour, the young Mirsky Racing Team is looking good
and with continued form, might we be looking at the new match race stars?
