Father’s Day

Father’s Day

So how about winning a long distance race, overall, on a boat your dad
designed over 50 years ago? That’s exactly what San Diego sailor Chris
Caulkins did aboard his Calukins 50 Sabrina (to weather at start
pic to the left) during the Newport
to Cabo race
. A breezy race saw them never slow down, especially towards
the end (usually the death of small boats on these sort of races) and
win the thing on overall corrected time, beating a pretty decent fleet
of big boats and the J/125 Reinrag (we bet they motored to the
start and after the finish on this race). Btw, the Andrews 80 Magnitude set another elapsed time record – hauling ass over the 800 miles in 2
days and 10 hours. Interesting to see DC come in DFL in class in his new
(to him) Stars and Stripes.
