annual list of Winners and Losers. Sorry it has taken so long, but as
always, it is worth the wait!
Sailor: Chris Dickson has proven, beyond any doubt, that he has the
skill, determination, and mental fortitude to lead top teams to victory.
The loyalty that he engenders in his crews is legend, and despite a less-than-stellar
performance in Valencia, we think Dicko is at the top of his game. Look
for great things from this premiere racer in 2008.
Mention: There are few people who truly define their genre, and anyone
who has followed RTW multihulls knows that Tony Bullimore is just such
a guy. Nearly a septuagenarian, Bulli still managed to sail his state-of-the
art catamaran all the way to Australia to ready for a uniquely brilliant
RTW attempt on an unconventional Australia to Australia route. Bucking
misfortune at every turn, Bulli managed to manhandle his massive beast
all the way past New Zealand, and was ultimately foiled by the loss of
a headstay termination – this despite Tony’s always-careful and meticulous
planning and preparation. We anxiously await the Bull’s next exciting
and innovative world record attempt.
