Once we had caught sight of IDEC’s white mast head strobe, the chase was
on- the 92ft long, red trimaran was moving at pace. The nearest spectator
power boat illuminated the mainsail with floodlights and the photographers
around me sprang into action. Anne Lardet, Alain Gautier’s wife, Ellen
MacArthur and I were among them, captivated. Francis Joyon was barreling
towards the finish line, fast.
