Race
Report
FD OD
The
first two races of the Australian FD championships were run in very difficult
conditions. As expected the temperature was high and the wind was light
and extremely shifty. Two things made the racing tough. The shifts were
large and they were random and second, in sub planing conditions, every
one is pretty much going the same speed, so one missed shift and you would
be passed.
With
the small fleet, I kind of expected gaps would form pretty quickly in
the fleet, but it is the opposite, everyone is able to stay in clear air
and each boat is able to sail their race, so in fact the racing is extremely
close and given the shifts we are experiencing, position changes are pretty
regular.
