No, this isn’t a real ad.  But it should be.

In reality, it’s 2016 World Tour favorite Taylor Canfield pitching it in on Day 1 of the WMRT Newport, one of about five capsizes over the first couple of days with zero damage and at most, the lost of one race for the wet crew. From first-hand experience, we can tell you that the full package – the boats, the licensing scheme, the simple and well-planned safety protocol, and the safety boat drivers – has turned a once-fearful occurrence into a minimal hassle.  Basically, if you have to choose between contact and tipping it in, you tip.  Fixing carbon wing bars gets expensive, but getting wet is free!

US-One and Sally’s Magenta Project both squeaked through after some boisterous and foggy qualifying racing with young Kiwi (and former Sperry SA Moth Worlds guest commentator) Chris Steele and his 36 Below team blazing through in first place after the fleet racing.

With Mr. Clean off racing Melges 24s at home, SF Cup commentary vet Andy Green will fill in on the microphone live from 1400 PM ET/1100PT/1900 UTC over here through Saturday, and effervescent and accomplished pro Stephanie Roble back on the commentary team.

We think this is an Ian Roman pic – let us know otherwise if it’s yours.

With a dismally light but gorgeously sunny forecast on the North Malastrand River, we can’t promise much excitement on day one of the double-points finale to the M32 Scandinavian Series in Stockholm.  But the spectators will be out in force as US-One goes for its clean sweep of the 2015 series, and we’ve got plenty of interesting features to share with you as we wait for the wind to fill in.  Check it out above, and go here for the preview story.

In the series that’s quickly become a dry run for next year’s introduction of the multihull World Match Race Tour and the million dollar grand prize, Taylor Canfield’s US-One once again dominated the fleet in Copenhagen.  With just a few months left until the 2016 Tour, it’s looking like young Tay-Tay is on the road to millionaire-dom .  And despite the rout, the racing is getting more and more fun to watch. Here’s the highlights package from our friends at RedhandedTV.

Clean Report

As the M32 Series live TV commentator and the voice on the carnage-filled highlight reel above, I accept that I am a little biased.  But in my opinion, this video (and the live coverage of the final day of racing that it is pulled from) was some of the most interesting and exciting racing I’ve seen in a long, long time.

It’s easy to be invigorated at an event like this: Between the decidedly youthful flavor of the M32 fleet, the genetic deliciousness of Swedish women, the absolute love for the sea and sailing that so many Swedes seem to have, and the excellent turnout for an event that’s just barely off the ground, I’m on cloud nine, and I can’t wait for the rest of the season.

Equally impressive is the vision that former Berg Propulsion CEO and owner Hakan Svensson has for the M32, and we’ll have some surprising and interesting announcements from them later in the week.  In the meantime, you can relive the Gothenburg event with the video above, and the links below.

Clean Report

M32 Hydra Sailing went from 12 knots to zero in less than a second yesterday on the penultimate day of the M32 Scandie Series in Gothenburg, proving yet again that even the most space-age autoclaved carbon fiber is no match for a big piece of steel.  You can see the highlights from a day of light-air racing here, but if you really want entertainment, stand by for the final day of action, coming at 1400 CET today.  20 knots of cold breeze is pumping up the river and the final four/double-points format means it ain’t over til the hot blonde Swedish girl sings.

I did my part last night to keep things interesting on the course today, topping up the dominant US-One team’s champagne glasses until daybreak at the hottest club in town.  Will a hangover make a difference to the results?  Only one way to find out.  Swedish AC and match race legend Magnus Holmberg will join me in the booth for the day’s call; click ‘play’ above and enjoy.

The M32 Series is shaping up to be the kind of fun that so much of top-level racing lacks.  With plenty of smack talk, apres-sail parties open to the public, an extremely approachable fleet and race village, and the latest live web coverage tech, it’s the most modern racing circuit currently in existence.

Wanna know why?  Watch the video above and join the fun, and watch the grand finale today from 1400 CET.  You can always watch the F1 Grand Prix de Monaco on DVR…

There’s some great banter up and down the docks on a sunny, gorgeous day in Norway, and Taylor Canfield’s US-One has finally got their shit sorted out.  They’re chasing down Jes Gram-Hansen’s Trifork team, just one point out of the lead.  The super-short course format is exciting, the breeze is a perfect 10-12 knots, and if we’re going by the last two days, we should see some crashes, some near-capsizes, and maybe a swimmer or two amongst the constant lead changes of a competitive “Super Beach Cat” fleet.  Watch it all live from 1400 CET/0800 EST, or replay to your heart’s content.  Morning dock walk here.

Results are somewhere in here.
