It’s pretty awesome when a Kickstarter project actually makes it to fruition; even more so when it’s something we can actually use for sailing.  That’s how the Danes behind the Vaavud wind meter got their ball rolling, and the result is pretty sweet.  We’ve all seen or used some of the existing wind meters out there; this one is simpler, cheaper, more durable, and according to the manufacturer, quite a bit more accurate than the rest of the market.  It also has no electronics, instead relying on two magnets and the iPhone, iPad, or Samsung Galaxy’s magnetic sensors to do the calculations.  Easy connection, low price, no electronics?  Sign us up.  And thanks to Giz for the find.
