The C&C 30 One Design is progressing, and the first boat will be ready for a March launch date.  The construction for the tooling is well advanced and we are entering the next build phase.  Mills Design has finished major design tasks and the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) study has been completed by KND Sailing Performance in Valencia.

Preliminary ORC, ORR and IRC ratings will be run in January of 2014 (photo from CFD work).  The design of the boat has evolved; the C&C 30 OD now features a carbon fiber keel fin with a lead bulb.  This keel design change is lighter than fabricated steel, and allows for a lower VCG. Most importantly, it eliminates the question of long-term corrosion that might occur in an encased steel structure.  The engine has also received an upgrade; the 30 OD will be powered by a Volvo D1-13 2 cylinder diesel.  Log on to www.c-cyachts.com to keep an eye on the latest developments.
