In a race that was, without question the best we have seen in this entire AC, Oracle showed a lot of everything good, winning the first race today in impressive fashion. Nearly as impressive was this near capsize by ETNZ, also easily the biggest “holy fuck!” moment in the AC!!

Sadly, and rather lamely, race #2 was abandoned in mid race for “excessive” wind speed – 22.6 knots. Jesus christ, just let ‘em race – it was going fine – why show just how weak this whole thing really is at such a critical and pretty much awesome moment?

Just when it looks like the AC is actually good sport, we are constantly reminded of the major shortcomings in this edition of the AC. Oh well, despite Oracle’s impressive showing today, the series inches closer to the eventual end, and with it a merciful end to this failed format. Jump in the massive thread here. ¬†Photo ACEA.

The racing continues Sunday…
