Well, you knew I was going to bone it in the Shaw 650 sooner or later. Say hello to sooner. Attempting to sail a doublehanded race in what turned out to be too much breeze for only 2 people on the 650, we shrimped the kite so badly we decided to pull the plug and head for home.
DNF’s aren’t fun, but thanks to some helpful Dock Talk from the very good I14 sailor Brad Ruetenik, we think we figured out why we sucked so badly…
Probably not the worst decision to bail as we had our hands full trying to sail the little rocket back home upwind in puffs of 15 or so! Not so much fun, and not fast! Lesson learned! We’ll have more fun next week in the Sharp HospiceCare Benefit Regatta.
