We sailed the new Shaw 650 Sock Puppet to its first win this Saturday! A 3 race W/L series called the Crown Cup sailed in about 6-10 true and flat water had us eking out the win in the sportboat class by one point over the Cheetah 30 SuperFly, nicely sailed by Steve Mollering.
It was an interesting fleet, with 3 FT 10′s, 2 FT 7.5′s us and the Cheetah. Tough going against them all in a 21′, but we got good starts, the boat was quick and K Mag and the boys Blake and Shane did a great job sailing the Puppet.
Sadly, no pictures were taken, (this picture taken previously by Cynthia Sinclair) but we have discovered a whole new joy sailing this responsive and agile little beauty! Anyone looking for a spark and a reason to be enthused again about sailing needs to check out the 650. Seriously.
Now we need to get all the 20′-ish sporties to come out and play so that we can have a good, fun class with new excitement and new momentum. Whaddaya say, San Diego??
