The irony of the ‘new’ world of old school monohull match racing is that about 75% of the participants are under 30 years old. At least that’s how it is here in Chicago at the Grade 2 event this weekend, and the intensity and youth is refreshing. Another possible solution to saving sailing, thanks to Don Wilson’s devotion to the Chicago Match Race Center. The winner of this weekend’s Qualifier gets an automatic invite to the World Match Race Tour event here in Chicago; a very big deal to those in the know; you can follow along on Facebook for real-time pics, scores, and commentary from the CMRC media team (including Clean and Mer), and friend them if you want to get in on some of the contests and other fun games they’ll be playing leading up to the August WMRT action.
